Hi can anyone advise please, i have two GSDS 14mths old they sleep in bedroom but not allowed on bed and have never got up there, my oh works driving a lot at nights so when i get up in a morning hes still in bed soon as i get out of bed Jazz jumps up next to him and he wont get off i try pulling him but he wont move and gets a little snappy if i keep grabbing his collar i cant pull his weight off at all , so i have had to leave the room then he will get off and follow me, this has only been happening the last few days, wont do it for oh either, just lies there , any help would be great thanks.

Re: Dog wont get off bed

i wouldnt even let him them anywhere near the bedroom in future...their bed is the dog bed..or crate or otherwise...NOT YOUR BED not even for a cuddle...stop it asap be4 it gets worse.

so if i was u ild banish them from the bedrooms full stop...keep them resticted downstairs.

Re: Dog wont get off bed

Another example of a teenager pushing the boundaries! Gotta put a stop to it any way that works. Personally I would continue to just pull him off calmly andf firmly if he doesn't obey the "off" command but if you are worried he may bite you you might want to re think the letting him sleep in your "den" until he can learn some manners. He just needs to learn a bit of respect, trouble is if he learns that by snapping at you you back off it will only make him more powerful. Maybe a baby gate on the bedroom door so he knows its your and your oh's space not his.

Re: Dog wont get off bed

Hi thanks for the help , i live in a bungalow which is not big at all and kitchen to small for both of them , they have always slept in bedroom, from being 8 weeks old on their own beds never on ours, the reason they are in with us , is i have two rescue cats one that does not get on with them at all or they her, so the cats have the run of house at night and the dogs are in with us, he dosent snap as such but when i get hold of his collar to pull him down he turns round so maybe its me that thinks he might nip , never have they even growled or snapped at us or anyone i think you are right hes playing up so i will try some of your advice , thanks a lot for help

Re: Dog wont get off bed

brings back memories on our first night with our greyhound we had many years ago.from coming into our flat he made straight for our bed, when hubby tried to move him he showed his teeth, you get that horrible cold feeling when they do thatwe bribed him off with something and both ran into bed before he came backyou`ll just have to sleep on the sofa

lmao. i've slept in my single bed with 4 dogs once. yeah i let them when my parents go away so i feel safe. crystal sleeps in my room but has her own bed as she sometimes can't get on the bed and falls out. but all the dogs get off the bed when they're told.
