why does kai playup when i'm around

ok this is a very tricky question in my oppion..if it was from someone else i think i'd know the answer...which would be kai is picking up from my signals..
but today i've had kai clipped and he has played up so much ( he hates being groomed)..but it has taken this lady 3 and 1/2 hours to clip and bath him..now if i'm around he will be naughty,for want of a better word...but if i'm not around he acts different..i'm not a soft touch when it comes to my dogs, but kai for reasons unbeknown to me acts different when i'm about..
and another thing i'm noticeing is, if mia thinks kai is in "trouble" or distress,and believe me i use these terms loosely,she will try and defend him and whine when he is not happy..and he is the same....
well i'm lost so i dont blame you if you are also

i've NEVER had dogs behave like this...
any suggestions anyone?

The jist I got was there are two dogs you own and one plays up?

i can't say he plays up as such....but when it comes to groomig he's much better if i'm not around....but i have to admit if i am around kai will play up..but not for me...if that makes sence

Foxy has only been here 3 weeks, so this could have something to do with it.

Foxy is my dog, so I look after her, feed her, water her etc etc. She plays me up something wicked, and like you said about your dogs I am too not a soft touch on her and don't let her get away with everything. But when my mum or dad are with her (and I am not there) she is completely different!

Hi Janice, mine play up like that at times if one whines the other starts too, and if im trying to do something with one the other messes around and wont let me like brushing, if one jumps at me which is not really allowed so does the other, not sure if i have grasped what you mean but this is what mine do hope its a bit of help your not on your own, they are much worse with my oh whos really soft with them , im not i tell the one doing it RIGHT STOP and sometimes that works

My 3 are all well behaved when the groomer calls - although if one yelps the others are there in a flash.

On the otherhand if at my mums when Luca is getting cut - the groomer asks me to leave the room - as he will not settle or stand.

my lot are terrible if im abt i had a mobile groomer once it was chaos pure hell so now im not around and they are ok
once i foned the groomer whilst she had them and malf heard my voice and started howling for me

Have you always let him away with "playing up" How do you deaL with him when he is acting like this?

thankyou all , i'm glad i'm not the only one

relief!! i am strict with both of my dogs, and yes if i leave the room when he is being groomed he seems much better..what a little git, pmsl ,its just that i've never had this problem with dogs in the past,god they are worse than kids..
