Re: am thinking of showing Simba, how to start?

You need to be teaching your dog to stand now, most people who show would normally start to do this as young as 6 weeks old you will need to be totally committed to this and practise for a short time, maybe just five minutes at a time, each and every day. How is his movement and does he fit within the show standard of the breed he represents.
Perhaps you could seek and ask a local breeder who may have knowledge of the show world to help you in your quest, also you could maybe contact the person who breed your dog.

Re: am thinking of showing Simba, how to start?

We are very new to showing, but we started Archie at Ringcraft at 5 months, he learnt it in no time.
I am actually "trying" to teach my friends 3 year old bitch to stand, we are getting there but it is SO much harder the older they are!!
But as another poster said, it's best to teach them young.
I am not very knowledgeable of your breed, but this why ringcraft is the best place to go...they will teach you how to stand your dog, hold the lead... etc.
Keep going to companion shows it's good for gaining confidence, also around ask if anyone knows of a local ringcraft to you.
Also maybe pop along to some shows and watch your breed.
But most importantly have fun

Have you googled Ringcrafts in your area?

Ringcraft is the place to go for sure. What area are you in as someone on here might know of a ringcraft as some of them are not always listed.
