Boston Ch show

Had a great day there yesterday:

Angel ( Gron-De-Mon Archangel )

won Best Bitch and Best of Breed

and new pup Hawk (Gron-De-Mon Blackhawk )

won Reserve Best dog at the tender age of 8 months !!

I thought the layout of the show was REALLY cramped this year - hardly anyone used the benches and simply camped their huge trollies and multitudes of crates round the ringside leaving very little room - I do think they need to rethink how the show is organised - did anyone else go ?

Re: Boston Ch show

We went yesterday - didn't do anything much except a 3rd in the YKC handling for Sarah and Quinny. Well done Bijou with Angel and Hawk!

It was very cramped - no room for grooming trolleys in the benching area and only very small areas where they could be put.

From a border collie point of view we were in the top corner (ring 1) - benching was cramped but right next to the ring, which was nice. Most people used the benches and being in the top corner we didn't have people walking past us and our ring. The ring was also a decent size compared to some - they had actually given us a double ring so although the judge did split some classes ( one had 21 entries) in the main there was plenty of room to move the dogs.

I know the benching for some breeds was actually in the pavillion next to the building - perhaps that is why they set up their cages and trolleys in the hall itself?

Even though it was cramped, it was much, much better than being at Newark - the last time Boston Champ Show was there it was so cold it was unbelievable

Heh heh - went looking for you cos I saw a Ceearott dog in the catalogue - but then I realsied it was owned by someone else! The rottie ring was a decent size - they had done a double ring for them like the border collie ring.

Re: Boston Ch show

I watched some of the Rottie judging whilst waiting for the group and was struck by the big differences in type in your breed - is this a fair point across the breed in general or just happened to be like that for the classes I watched yesterday ?

They had a good sized ring but were a long way from their benching so were one of the breeds with no space around the ringside because of all the crates etc.

That was probably a fairly typical example of rotties at the moment, lol! Lots of people using-have used European stud dogs on their bitches hence, differing types being produced. And of course, the difference in maturity levels of some lines too.

I think its prob fair to say we've always had a few varying types!
