Claiming entry fees back

Can you claim them back if your dog is poorly?

Re: Claiming entry fees back

You are joking..................

Can you imagine the nightmare of the poor secretary having to verify claims etgc?

I would strongly advise you not to pursue this avenue of thought, it does not make you popular with secretaries whether show, obedience, agility, WT etc.

What if you had an RTA? What if your child was ill etc?

Just suck it up as they say, stuff happens.

Re: Claiming entry fees back

i'm sorry your dog is unwell, however claiming a refund is not worth the hastle or secretarys time for a few quid. what happens if bitches came into season and couldn't go to the show, secretary would be inundated with requests for refunds.. Years ago we had a local show cancelled because of foot and mouth epidemic. most of us waived our entry fee as the show was not rescheduled.

I'm sure there's no need to be quite so nasty to someone who is new to showing and asking a genuine question. What you write may well be true, but with the rising cost of entries and corresponding fall in entry figures, refunds for genuine cases is something shows could and should start looking into. Not everyone can afford to just "suck up" £25 quid.

I love springers - so sorry to hear about your dog with lymphoma. It isn't the norm for people to ask for their fees back, but if I were you I would give the secretary a ring, explain what has happened, and she if there is anything that can be done.

Re: Claiming entry fees back

When my dog died suddenly several years ago, I did not write to the various secretary's to ask for my entry fees back, it is just not done.

And, no I was not "wealthy" at the time, being on income support.

I have never heard of it being done at all, and as someone who has taken entries myself, none of the clubs/societies of which I am a member do it.

Never been done in with entries for horse shows or races either.

The Kennel Club have rules regarding the refunding of entry monies and they do not include illness, seasons, death etc...........

Re: Claiming entry fees back

Sorry about you dog's illness

I have to say I think the likelihood of getting your money back is low - it's quite probable schedules will already have been printed etc.

We missed our show today because muggins here has been eating too much cheese and chocolate (cue migraine) - the way I tend to look at it is although I've lost the entry fee, I've just saved myself £40 odd in fuel
