Question Is LKA similar to crufts?

We were looking at going to LKA. Really wanted to go on the Sunday but it makes it a bit hard to get home to pick up my sons from their Dad.

We're after a Bichon Frise in a few years and I really wanted to throw myself into researching them as I would like to show.

Would it be a good thing to go to so I can talk with some of the people showing?

Re: Is LKA similar to crufts?

Well, yeah, its kind of like Crufts in that its the same venue, lol!

Certainly be lots of doggy people around, not quite as many traders as Crufts has obviously, but still plenty to see.

Yeah, get yourself there for the day, this year its Sat 10th and Sun 11th. Sat is hound/gundog and terrier day, and Sunday is Toy/Utility/ Working and Pastoral day.

If you go early, you will have plenty of time to find some breeders/exhibitors to talk to, you dont have to be there all day.

Re: Is LKA similar to crufts?

I saw it opens at half 8 so if we could get there for 9 and maybe leave at half 12 we should be home in time.

It is so very very tempting.

We are going for the first time, never doen LKA before and I know they say the atomsphere is lovely, as its considered the last big show until the New year, so lots of people hand out their Xmas cards and have little mini parties round the benches etc.

Re: Is LKA similar to crufts?

It does have a different atmosphere to other champ shows, maybe because of the NEC? There are usually lots of stalls. I don't think your allowed parties anymore, the NEC stopped it

We are going to go. Weather permitting, so as long as we can get there we'll be there.

Re: Is LKA similar to crufts?

LKA is a bit like a mini Crufts, maybe because of the venue and it's always been busy as until this year has always been the last qualifying show for Crufts. Crufts does have Discover Dogs though which let's you meet different breeds and talk to the owners.

The parties aren't supposed to happen (mean old NEC ) but they still take place - the food and drink is just not laid out on tables like it used to be Don't know why the NEC are so snotty about it at LKA, but don't seem to mind it at Crufts - perhaps they think it's easier to police at LKA.
