home offered to whippet x pup

I have recently lost my beautiful fawn whippet x boy and am looking for another dog to fill the empty space on my bed. I have to other dogs who are missing him as well, a lucher and spaniel, so it would need to get on with other dogs. I work days and my husband works nights, so it would not be left alone. I would like a young dog so it can fit into our active doggy lives. The dogs come everywhere with us, we live in Norfolk near the beaches and woods and spend the summer at a quiet woodland caravan site, which leads straight onto heathland. Our rspca homecheck described our home as doggy heaven. THe dog would be for a pet only and not raced or worked.

Unhappy Re: home offered to whippet x pup

THanx for that link, but I have tried them and they refuse to rehome a dog with us as my spaniel has not been neutered and there is a high risk of testicular cancer! My motto is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' he's a beautiful affectionate dog who doesn't bother with the ladies and any operation is not without risks. I was left very upset and frustrated after contacting them, I was questioned in depth about Bandits sudden death, which is very painful to me, and then to refuse a dog a loving home on the grounds that a dog who has lived with us for 5 years might get cancer, makes me question how much they want to rehome these poor dogs.
Sorry for sounding off but everything's a bit raw at the minute, I feel sorry for my poor family!

Re: home offered to whippet x pup

Thats a shame, my friend had the same response from Gap when looking for another greyhound and she did intend to get her other dogs done in the future when she felt they were old enough. In the end she just adopted from a different group.

Many Tears has a gorgeous 8 month old whippet boy in. They rehome all over country, but you'd have to travel to see the dog which is being fostered in Weston-Super-Mare so a bit of a trek from Norfolk. Many Tears Animal Rescue - Dogs looking for homes

Would you consider a 4 year old Whippet?
I know of a female looking for a home - Misty is a red fawn with white trim she is up to date with jabs and worming and she is getting spayed tomorrow so won't be ready until the weekend 28th 29th Nov. Nat1979 will update you later on with some pics if you are interested.

Why is it centres are like that I think it is a joke
I think if i wanted a whippet or a whippet x they would turn around and say to me sorry you have to many dogs or my fence is not the right height

I find homes for other peoples whippets and whippet x because they dont want to go through centres and they would still like to be updated on how they dog is doing etc

Like sue said i am looking for a home for a whippet now which is do to be spayed 2morrow before she goes to her new home

Re: home offered to whippet x pup

That has surprised me about greyhound gap as when I had my greyhhound bitch Button the woman who runs it asked why I hadn't got in touch with them. She knows I show my dogs and so they are not neutered. But saying that I do know her and my 2 greyhounds often go to their meet and greets.
