rehoming our akita

Hi we have a beautiful male akita who is 1 and a half, looking for a new loving home, we have just had a baby and are not able to give him the love and attention he really needs and deserves, he is such a stunning dog with gorgeous markings, is good with female dogs not sure about other male dogs as he hasnt been around any. he needs someone with a strong firm hand who knows the breed. he can live both inside and out as we do have an outside kennel for him which is in during the day now with us having the baby, although before we had our child he lived inside for the first year of his life, and is fine, chewed a few things as a pup but grew out of that before he was even 6 months old. you will honestly fall head over heels for ryden when you see him, his lovely big brown eyes and his bear like face, he loves cuddles, walks, playing chase, and even likes you to chase him round the garden, he strangely likes watching the tv, he'll happily sit with a bone infront of the soaps
anyway if anyone is interested please get in touch as we are wanting a new home for him asap as its not fair on him being cooped up not getting the attention he craves! this is no fault of his own, we just thought we would be able to share the attention with our daughter and our dog but he needs a lot more attention that we give..so sad to see him go

Re: rehoming our akita

It would be better off for all concerned if you contacted the breed rescue. Or even the breeder. If they were a decent one they will have stated in your contract to return the dog if you were unable to keep him.

Akita rescue will evaluate your dog, place him in a foster home and find the best possible candidate and prevent him falling into unsuitable hands.

Re: rehoming our akita

My friend fosters for Friends Of Akitas - give them a call and see if they can help - as Nonnie says it's always best to go through rescue so the new owner has some back up

Re: rehoming our akita

we have contacted them and have the forms filled out, but it can takes a long time before re-homing him and we are going to have to put him in kennels until they find him somewhere which is what we dont want to do. thats why i came on here to see if anyone knows and understands the breed who is looking to foster or re-home, we live in the north east and got our akita from Devon..yes devon!!! We wanted the right pup from a good breeder, which is definitly what we got, but now circumstances have changed we just dont have time for him

Have you contacted the breeder? They may be able to help you as they have connections within the breed cicrle.

If you got him from a good breeder then that breeder should be your first port of call - I know I'd want any dog that I bred to be brought back to me rather than placed in rescue
