Fostered In: Wirral, Merseyside

Other Information

Skeeter is one of a litter of pups that came into. As these little souls were living outside I am so pleased that we were able to get them

Skeeter came in with a suspected Liver shunt. He has tested negative for which is fantastic news. He does seem much better and apart from a couple of incidents seems to be doing much better. It may be his problems were caused by a severe worm infestation.

Message from his foster mum:

Skeeter is awesome, one of the MOST confident little pups I have had the pleasure of meeting. Within two minutes of arriving he pee'd on his lovely new crate mattress and then went and got on the resident dogs big boys bed He was quiet for the first night and then Skeeter the snapper turtle came into force ha-ha - definite mouther, Harley's tail, my feet, fingers, clothes, xmas tree baubles but we are working on it and he is listening. I think he is 10 weeks now but I swear his legs get longer every few hours. He sleeps in a crate in my bedroom and cries for a few minutes but I just say 'quiet' and he settles with a big groan He eats well (greedy pup) and obviously with age has accidents in the house, but today, day 3, only 1 wee in the house everything else in the garden, of course I know when to put him out , after play, sleep, food, hourly..... and I say 'do a wee wee' and off he trots to do his thing. Funny to watch with these legs, when he's not taking toys out of my dogs mouth he is pawing at invisible ones Skeeter does not like his collar and will spend lots of time getting it off and he manages to do so. He is very vocal during play and has the most amazing squeaky yawn, a gorgeous pup who needs routine, love, people and toys.... oh and he's a bit of a stalker ha, lies in wait and then pounces on his prey ha-ha not sure if this is a breed thing, but my Harley tolerates him well.

The lovely Seeter is a doll He is calming down a treat and I don't know if he has heard me talking on the phone about him being rehomed but of recent he has had us in absolute fits of laughter He loves to have his belly rubbed and will roll over for you to do it, we have also located his tickle spot. He thinks he is a lap dog and if the radiator is switched off he sits and paws it with a whimper He is an amazingly clever little guy and I for one will be very sad to see The Skeets go!!!!

Skeeter will be looking for a home with no cats as he has a very high prey drive. He would like another dog to play rough and tumble with, but would alternatively like to have the 1:1 attention of his human.

He is still very much in the puppy stage and we feel that small children would be a no go as he tends to play roughly and we wouldn’t want this to be mis-interpreted.

Skeeter is vaccinated and microchipped, but will need to be neutered when old enough

Meet Skeeter at 8 weeks

Check out those legs!!

Best Friends (most of the time)

It’s a short trip to the dog minder but he slobbers and does not like the car, although he did go quiet when he found a crisp packet (not mine)

Please come to Friends of the Animals forum for further updates and photo’s of the lovely Skeeter Friends of the Animals RCT Forum - Nutmeg, Greyhound x Saluki, 8 weeks

Re: Skeeter, 13 week old, Greyhound x Saluki

Somehow this incredibly sweet boy is still waiting for a home. Here is an update Skeeter's foster mum and dog minder have put together so you can see just how special this little man is:

He regularly plays well with children of ages 7 and 10. Skeeter meets and plays with other dogs well when out and will become submissive if a dog gets too bouncy which is in complete contrast to how he behaves with the dogs at home with whom he jumps on and hangs off! The dogs do not react to this as Skeeter is not hurting them; despite the noises the cheeky boy makes.
Skeeter does show bouts of interest in the cat at home but he can walk past without intrusion.

He is still as lazy as ever and if he see/hears you get the lead he will run and lie down or just run off but he does enjoy his walks. He does not like to be cold - if you wrap him in a blanket he is in his element.

Skeeter and the dog in his foster home are happy to eat along side each other and take chews/toys from each others mouths.

Skeeter mouths but very little now and is very gentle when he does.
The only one thing to watch with Skeeter (and we are working on this) is if he is warm and asleep and you go to pick him up to get him to go out he will nark at you, this is not all the time but it is something to be aware of; he is very head strong and stubborn (recently had a battle of wills to get him to sit for a biscuit), but he is ultra clever and knows exactly what to do!

He is so loving and anything he wants, he WILL let you know, whether it be by showing you, making eyes at you or simply standing up and giving a little cry! He will be a great addtion to someones home.
