Star, Staffie X, DOB 04.03.11 – Addlestone, Surrey

Star, Staffie X, DOB 04.03.11 – Addlestone, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Star needs to a family committed to her as she unfolds, further socialisation and training. She needs to be kept fluent with dogs by either living with a male resident dog or as an only dog and regularly mixing with dogs outside so she doesn't become insular. Secure garden with attendance at a training class a must. Star has been around young children but must have a situation where her needs are primary to her family. Not for cats or small furries.

Her Story: Star came to us as a 4 month pup with her litter sister, having been kept in a flat with her mum and had not been past the front door step. She had mange and had not seen a vet for vax etc though was wormed. First in a reception foster place with sister exposed to life gently. Then into her foster place she went from strength to strength with an excellent role model Staffie lad Ben. Fostered in Addlestone, Surrey. Spayed, fully vax'd and chipped.

Early Video: Being in Rescue oh what fun!

Advert: Star is shining brightly in her foster home with the support of her 'role model' foster brother Ben. She is now confident, being allowed to experience new situations and build the skills she needs for later life. Star is housetrained and compliant with house rules. She mixes well outside on her walks and is a treasured member of her foster family. Star is used to travelling in a car as well as street walking.

"Star loves her walks and she goes and sits by the gate when she sees us pick up the lead. Star has continued to develop her dog skills over the last few weeks. Star will happily walk in high density dog areas and is starting to play happily with dogs of all sizes that are on or off lead. She has calmed down and is learning that she gets more cuddles if she approaches nicely and doesn't pounce on you like a cheetah! She will sit nicely in the kitchen waiting for food and has not showed any signs of food possession, we feed both dogs together and they swap bowls just in case the other has left a bit."

Re: Star, Staffie X, DOB 04.03.11 – Addlestone, Surrey

An update from Star’s fosterers:

“Its been a couple of weeks since our last post and Star has settled back into foster, she was a little unsure what was happening and it took a couple of days for her to relax again around Ben.

She is such an intelligent dog and a really quick learner, but she certainly has the staffie stubborn streak. She still pulls quite hard on lead, despite using a halti but its because she has sooo much energy.

We still use the crate when there is nobody in the house, at night she is happy to use it as her bed, but we no longer close the door.
In the morning we usually find her curled up with Ben in his bed.

"Hey Ben, don’t you think they should buy a car with a bigger boot ? "

Squirrel!

Today we had a nice walk along the canal and Star came up close and personal with some wildlife. She barked at this young Swan and when it hissed back she tried to jump in and swim with it!

She has also been taking liberties at home, jumping up onto the window sill to see who is coming up the drive”!

If you are interested in re-homing Star please complete our homing questionnaire https://rescueremedies.wufoo.com/forms/r7x3s5/ so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
