Stella - 10 month old mixed breed - Sweet girl needs a chance

Stella is a stunning 1 year old mixed breed. She is still a pup and in desperate need of some structure and training in her life.

Due to lack of socialisation, she can get over excited around other dogs but training and patience will over come this.
She is good with older children and is a little wary of cats though could live with confident cats.

She is very quiet in the house and loves her kisses and cuddles. She is housetrained, neutered and vaccinated.

With time, patience and training, she is going to make the most wonderfully loving, loyal pet - she just needs somebody to give her a chance, are you that somebody?

Stella is on foster in South Wales but we home across the UK. If you're interested in adopting Stella, please read our adoption guidelines and procedure;

Re: Stella - 10 month old mixed breed - Sweet girl needs a chance

Hi I am Kelly and currently the foster mum of Stella. I have a husband and a little boy of 15months. We have only had Stella since last night. She settled well and quickly last night.
I have 3 cats and one is a very big boy who is not bothered by any dog that crosses his path. She was interested in him, but have no doubt in the right home would settle well with cats.
She does know sit (when you have a treat) as well as down and paw. I will keep working on her training as she is a very bright girl and will be attending the puppy training classes I hold. She is food orientated which helps when training (she loves the liver cake I have made for treats) She likes my little boy, when he goes to her she licks him and I have included pictures of them together to show how good she is. She is very responsive to my husband and myself and had us in stitches last night when she had a mad 5 minutes, running in circles and pouncing on her kong.

Re: Stella - 10 month old mixed breed - Sweet girl needs a chance

Hi, Stella's foster mum here.
Well we have now has Stella for 1 week today. She has settled very well into our family life. She is fantastic with my little boy as the pictures show, wherever he is she follows, she will be fantastic in a home with children. however she is still a puppy and when she gets excited she will show puppy behaviours, for example my husband was playing chasing my little boy Stella got excited and was jumping on my husband and mouthing him. I did tell my husband off as he was causing her behaviour! She lets my little boy take her toys off her to throw for her and never takes them from him.
On the cat front, I have three cats, one old boy who is bold and slow in his movements, she is interested in him but because he doesn't run away she loses interest, but my others she will chase if she had the chance so I think a house with no cats is ideal, or one with a very bold cat.
Stella is around knee height on me and I am 5ft 2in. She is easily handlable and very responsive to myself and my husband.
Stella does not have much confidence outside on the lead so we are working on that at the moment. She does show fear agression toward some dogs when out aswel. I am working on this too. She just does not know how to behave with other dogs. I have walked her with three of my colleagues and their dogs. She seems more comfortable with people then the other dogs. She did show some aggression toward two of the other dogs at the beginning of the walk but by the end was starting to go towards the other dog to play. Every dog we have met when out walking and she has sniffed she has been fine with. Stella just needs a home where her training can continue (especially recall) She walks well on the lead and walks next to the buggy. Her confidence outside the house has improved so much in a week already. She is very intelligent and is food orientated and easy to train with a treat and would suit a home where her owner would continue to keep her training.
Stella loves to collect items and put them all together on the sofa, so far we have had shoes and slippers all on the sofa. She loves her kong (more so when it is stuffed with food) She also loves catching bubbles and we are all in stitches watching her. She is good when left on her own (she stays in a crate) for an hour or 2 but I have not left her for a long period of time, I would imagine (being as she is still a puppy) she would find her own way of entertaining herself if left for a long period of time.
I hope I have covered all areas of Stella, and covered all questions anyone may have. She really is a lovely girl who would suit family life and I hope the right home for her comes along soon.

Playing with her Kong & toys

Sharing her bed

Catching bubbles

Having a sleep

Re: Stella - 10 month old mixed breed - Sweet girl needs a chance

Stella is coming on in leaps and bounds in her foster home! So much so that she has started playing with other dogs that are reasonably new to her - Her wonderful foster family have helped her find out why it's so great to be a dog.

Her foster mum has also now been able to let Stella off her long line to play and she has had superb recall.

Stella is the perfect age to adopt. She's old enough to not need house training or training against mouthing but young enough to still have a mad half an hour!
She is such a wonderful girl who is happy to live with children, cats and dogs. Lovely Stella would like an active home that continue her confidence building and she will forever repay you with cuddles, love and a good laugh (she is a real character!)

Can you offer Stella a forever home?

Re: Stella - 10 month old mixed breed - Sweet girl needs a chance

Stella is continuing to develop beautifully in her foster home. She had a lovely time off lead playing with four other dogs yesterday and her recall was great. She was also left alone for a couple of hours afterwards and she was not destructive and was found crashed out in her bed when her fosterer got home. She is doing really well thanks to having regular exercise, consistent training and a loving foster home - now all she needs is a place where she can have this forever... can you offer sweet Stella a forever home?
