Urgent home needed for DD the deaf dog
What ALUK help do you need?: FOSTERING
Is rescue backup in place?: Yes Contact/organisation details: GSD Lifeline Permission - Do you have the rescues permission to post this template?: Yes Location (County and Postcode): Wiltshire or surrounding counties ideally. Number of animals: 1 Type/Breed/Variety: Collie x Sex: Female Age(s): 2 Name(s): DD Colours: White with black spots Neutered: Will be in a few days Vaccinated: Starting Temperament: See full info below Assessment - Has animal had a thorough assessment?: YES Other: URGENT NEED FOR FOSTER HOME - leaving current foster home and has no where to go. We have literally just taken over her care as had no proper backup! Please meet DD who has sadly been let down by rescuers & rescues in the past. Rescues have promised to take her on but just left her sitting in a foster home since the age of 4 months! She has now had to move from that foster home and to ensure she was safe we have taken her in under our care. She is a beautiful 18/24 mth old Collie x (maybe setter or dal??). She is a very loving girl but she is deaf and it seems no one wants to give her a forever home because of this. She now needs a new home of her own or a foster home. She does know some basic hand signals and is such a loving girl that so deserves a chance. She does sometimes pull on lead but is good with a halti on. She is good off lead and does come back. She loves to play with other dogs and have lots of cuddles. She is has been in foster with other dogs but not met cats or lived with young children. Although she is deaf she is not stupid & is very intelligent and quick to learn. She could be ideal for agilty if someone would like to take the time to work with her and enjoy the challenge of working with a deaf dog. DD is looking for an older active family (children 10+) with a secure garden. New owners must not be out at work all day & be prepared to continue working with her training & socialising. She will be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped before going to a new home. Anyone who can foster or give DD a new home will have full support from GSD Lifeline and the Deaf Dog Network. Please check thread on Animal Lifeline or call GSD Lifeline

Re: Urgent home needed for DD the deaf dog
Bless the poor girl. I own a deaf dog myself and I must say deaf dogs are wonderful! Just because you train using hand signals instead of words it is no harder but it is even more rewarding. I really hope someone gives her a chance
