TESSA

Meet the supremely stunning Tessa. This girl is a 2.5 year old ex-racing greyhound who, after just a handful of races, has now finished with the competitive world. She was brought to us with her sister Tara to find her forever home. Ideally we would love to home these girls together, but we will home them separately if the right families come along.

Tessa is simply beautiful. She is a blue girl with deep greenish amber eyes and the most ears we’ve seen in a good while! She is 26” to the shoulder and is a wee bit stockier than her sister, Tara. This girl is guaranteed to attract a lot of attention for her new owners!



~ Personality ~
Tessa and her sister are newcomers to our kennels and so are still under assessment. So far, however, they have been fabulous girls and have very lovable characters. Tessa adores her head rubs and is always pleased to see you. She enjoys the company of people and is sure to adore the home life.

~ Other Animals ~
Tessa has been good with all the other dogs she has met, regardless of size or shape. She would do well in a home with another canine buddy for company and to show her the ropes when she moves to the home for the first time. She is just now starting to play too, and would love another playmate to romp with in the garden.



~ In the Home ~
Tessa has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.

~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Tessa is a low energy girl and so will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. She walks nicely on the lead and is a joy to take out. With her stunning looks and personality, this girl is 100% guaranteed to draw the crowds whenever she leaves the house!



~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~
Tessa is currently being kennelled with her sister in Ireland, and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable foster or permanent home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting her, she will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Tessa is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhound Connection is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUND CONNECTION ~~

Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation that has bases in Co. Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England. It operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. We can look after approximately 70 greyhounds at any one time, in Ireland and the UK.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the USA.
