Obi - Husky x with Hope Rescue
Obi is a 10 or 11 year old husky cross, probably with malamute and is currently on foster in Cwmbran, Gwent.
The Obi Fact File Dog status: Obi is not dog friendly and will be looking for a home as the only dog. Cat status: Obi has a high prey drive and would not be safe to rehome with cats or small animals Child status: Obi is in an adult only foster home. He has interacted well with teenagers and may be able to be rehomed with young people aged 11 years and upwards. House training: Obi is not used to living in a home environment. He is kennel trained and is clean in his kennel. Home alone: Obi is comfortable to be left without human company if he has had enough exercise and mental stimulation so that he can settle down and snooze. Basic training: Obi knows sit and paw and is very good on the lead. ![]() Obi will be looking for a very special home. He has come in to our care from the pound meaning we have no history on him. He does not seem to have lived in a home environment before and is more of an outdoor dog. he has found a lovely foster home where he is kennelled and has settled in very well. He will be looking for a home with an outdoor kennel or an area in the home which brings the outside in such as a seperate dog room. He would need a secure garden to enjoy. Obi is a very loving and affectionate dog who values human company and loves to spend time with you. He is very gentle on the lead despite his size and adores fuss and cuddles. ![]() Obi appears to lack any socialisation with other dogs and is not comfortable in their presence if they approach him or are off the lead. If he and they are on the lead he is non-reactive however, he is not comfortable. Obi would need to be rehomed as the only dog and will not appreciate spending time in high canine traffic environments. This may mean he would be better suited to a rural or semi-rural home. Obi has a high chase drive and will not be rehomed where there are resident cats or other animals such as chickens or sheep etc living outdoors. He is very interested in anything that moves quickly and this means he needs to be kept on lead if he is not in a secure area. Luckily, he has excellent lead manners and is a pleasure to exercise. Obi does enjoy his walks but does not need to run for hours on end. Due to his age he will appreciate a few shorter walks to stretch his legs, explore the world and have a good sniff. If he gets the chance to exercise int his way he is relaxed and happy to snooze the rest of the day away in his kennel, run or garden. He is not a demanding dog and may suit life with an older person or couple who are still able to provide for his needs. All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from Home - http://hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
