Re: Our Russian Toys

Gorgeous dogs!! They are very similar to Chi's and Min Pin's aren't they? Do they share any common ancestry??
My black and tan deerhead Chi has extra long legs and looks almost identical!

Hi, and thanks

Their ancestry goes back to the English Toy Terrier. After the Socialist revolution in Russia part of the cultural revolution was to create very distinctly Russian society. The ETT was the most popular toy dog at the time so Russian breeders set about to develop this breed and create a Russian Toy The same story applies to the Black Russian Terrier... another distinctly Russian Dog. Both Breeds are very young... just over 50 years in origin
