Post spaying operation - advice please

Our dog Treacle, a 13 month old beagle, was spayed on Friday and the vet said at the time she bled more than usual and that she might have lungworm. She said to treat her with Advocate, which we use already, once she is eating again which she thought would be 24 hours.

She has not yet eaten and is a little shaky so we are reluctant to use the Advocate yet, but are concerned about the lungworm.

Is it normal for a dog to be off their food for 2-3 days post op? She is very lethargic and we are not sure if we should be concerned.

Any advice gratefully received, thanks Jane

Bella was eating normally the day after her operation, and was acting only slightly lethargic. I think she handled it extra well to be honest though, so may not be the norm. If I were you iw ould check with yoru vet though, because it does sound like your girl is taking longer than normal to start recovering!

how long have you been using the advocate for? i don't know anything about wormers but i think a few people on here said if you use them for over a year then they become ineffective because they develop some sort of immunity towards it so you have to change. try panacur or something else?

both my girls were a little lethargic the dog of the op and the next day but they were eating normally more or less straight away, if she continues to be like this I would be asking to speak to your vet.
