Re: dangerous to dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garlic is only dangerous in stupidly high doses. In reasonable doses it acts as an antioxdant, lowers blood pressure, accelerates the breakdown of waste matter from cells, and acts as a mild flea repellent. Raw garlic is antibacterial and anti-fungal. The toxicicity level of mushrooms varies from species to species, in general wild mushrooms are the ones to avoid.

Re: dangerous to dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how high a dose of garlic is high to your dog? you'll never know. researches and vets have encountered quite a number of dogs with garlic poisonings.

Do you think those owners are so stupid they feed their dogs only garlics? or course not. Just like us, each of us can withstand a certain level of toxins in our body without falling sick/showing any symptom.

You've now heard of dogs coming down with garlic poisoning. If you still want to feed your dog garlics, it's really a conscious choice of yours.

Anti fungal.. anti bacteria... only if they amount to certain doses...
Flea repellant.. we've got so many kinds of topical drugs which are safe for dogs...

so why garlic?

Denes Fact Sheet: Garlic - Denes Natural Pet Care for cats and dogs - since 1951
Denes dog food company seem to disagree with you Surrvivor

"Garlic is an anti-flea remedy, and many raw feeders never use anything else to keep fleas away, and it offers many other benefits. Although garlic is part of the onion family (which is toxic to dogs) there have never been any recorded cases of garlic poisoning at the Veterinary Toxins Unit. One crushed clove (not bulb) a few times a week is sufficient." Canine Health Concern, PO Box 7533, Perth, PH2 1AD, These guys also disagree with you ...

Re: dangerous to dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garlic is spot on, all my animals get garlic and i flea them every 6 months instead of every month because garlic repels fleas etc also garlic can help fight infections from the inside out.
Untill my animals get ill from garlic then I will carry on feeding them it.
Oh n just for the record aloe vera is also good for dogs not for eating but for helping with sore pads and spots etc

Re: dangerous to dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I know some of the other things listed are dangerous, but my little heinz 57 has a cast iron stomach and acts as my unpaid hoover. She eats stray raisins and grapes, mushrooms etc LOL

She is as fit as a fiddle.
