Exclamation Chinese Crested Help

Hi all,
I have a crested Chinese powderpuff x yorkie and at the weekend I had her clipped in the style of a crested chinese hairless.
However, on Sunday I took her over some local woods and she picked up a flea from another dog. This was ok as it has been removed but she has a flea allergy and her skin is now obviously irritating her and now she has red marks all over her body from scratching.
Does anyone know the best thing I could use for her? Anti-histamine? Lotion?
I thank you in anticipation of replies.

Re: Chinese Crested Help

When you say clipped do you mean shaved?
are you sure its not shaving rash thats making her scratch?

For a small area I'd say sudocrem but for an entire dog I'm not so sure

Hopefully someone will be along soon

Re: Chinese Crested Help

Thank you for the reply.

Ordinarily I might agree with you, but I know what her skin is like if she gets fleas and it is definitely a flea allergy.

Hopefully someone will be able to help out soon - thank you again. x

Hi, If you contact this lady via email, she will be able to tell you if it may be a reaction to the clip and help you with what to do

She has helped several people from the forum and has assured me that she doesn't mind being contacted

Re: Chinese Crested Help

Aloe vera gel will remove the itching, help the skin to heal and if she licks it, no harm will be done as it's an internal remedy for IBS as well. My dog scratched herself raw visiting a friend's house that had fleas; I put aloe vera gel on, by next morning her skin had returned to normal.

You can also/instead use piriton type antihistamines. My vet said quarter tablet per 10kg of dog when my dog was attacked by wasps last year.
