Canine Massage - what do you think?

Hi all
I have been reading about canine massage, I am looking to do some training in the canine world - mainly for interest purposes but who knows in the future and one is in massage. It sounds fab and I wondered if anyone has any experience of canine massage?

I am also looking at dog grooming but i think he would prefer the first option!!

Thanks, maybe i can train to be a groomer and do the massage on myself :-)
I can imagine both hurting the back - especially as i am used to sitting at a desk on my bum all day!

Re: Canine Massage - what do you think?

Im a qualified Holistic Therapist (on people not animals) and I massage my pup all the time, she just seems to go to mush and does lots of stretching and yawning - she loves it, and when I stop she flops her big paw on me for more.

I have also been thinking about doing a course on Canine Massage/Grooming etc - never gone down this route before as Tilly is my first ever dog, but Im loving having her and enjoying my new world of dogs, so another course is a possibility.

I did a short course on TTouch, which uses very soft type massage techniques. The theory sounds rubbish to me and I've no idea how it should work, but I've seen it work on my own dog. I now also use a few of the simpler techniques and the wraps with nervous and boisterous dogs that come to see me. It doesn't take much effort so just because I don't understand why it should work, doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't.

No problem Tashi - sounds good to me, Tilly could do with a good trim now.

A gentle home massage can give your dog comfort as well as aiding the nervous system and increasing circulation.
