Re: Does anyone use omega 3

Omega 3 and Omega 6 help with dry skin/eczema.

However, dry skin and/or eczema are often caused by commercial pet foods, and stopping them and providing a raw diet alone may solve the problem.

Excess of Omega 3 and omega 6 can cause similar or worse problems than a lack of them, so I would be wary of simply supplementing a commercial diet with either or both.

I've heard of lots of dogs with skin conditions massively benefit from a total hypo-allergenci, colouring/preservative free, quality food. Most people know of James Wellbeloved, but a very very similar yet more cost effective is Arden Grange. I feed my two girls on that and it only costs approx £30 for a 15kg sack of lamb&rice

Re: Does anyone use omega 3

Dogs have an inbuilt survival instinct.... they will not let themselves starve. (I wouldn't work on this practice if they were underweight, very young, or particularly ill).

I would put down what I want them to feed on, gradually for a few days mixed in with what they currently eat. Then I may add a little mix in to add incentive, maybe tuna, gravy, bit of tinned meat, but you'll know your own dog.

Btw I was feeding Bakers (cos it's cheap) but I worked out because of the quality I don't need to give as much for them to get the needed nutrients etc, it's costs me 5p more a day to feed Arden Grange.

We had one here and the survival instinct clearly did NOT work for her she went for so long without food in the end we had to give in she was starving herself, I have never seen it before as we had advocated the pick the food up rule but after her we dont !!!
