How old is Oscar and do you get him trimmed by a groomer?

ok it could just be the amount of hair building up in his ears holding wax - these are one of the breeds that we 'pluck' the hair out of the ear canal to save the problem of a build up of wax and so help to prevent infection. Lift his ear flap and have a look how much hair is in the ear canal

Re: smelly ears

Doesn't seem excessive? Perhaps I should take him to the vets to be certain.
I seem to live there with since we've had him. (3 weeks) injections, cherry eye removal operation, follow up checks. If they didnt charge so much I think they'd be fed up of me.

Is the hair there greasy try and just pull out a few hairs at a time it could be that the canal just needs some air and is it a real fowl smell coming from them???

Did they not check his ears when he went in for the other checks??? My vet checks ears EVERYTIME I put one on the table.

Re: smelly ears

Yes, always check his eyes, ears, listen to his chest etc. They've never said anything. I'll try plucking his ears. Thanks as always for the advice

no problem I will warn you now he wont like it much but it is better for him there is a powder you can get on the internet which will help if you put that in his ears about once a month it is called 'thornit' it is about £7 but cheaper than a trip to the vets that is not needed . I always put some in the 'fluffy' dogs ears when I have them for grooming but not all groomers do.
