I have Dalmatians so completely different coat, but when our boy was younger he has awful skin problems and his coat looked moth eaten. We were feeding him on Iams as that is what his breeder fed, but James Wellbeloved was reccommended to us and we have never looked back. Within a couple of weeks of making the change over he was starting to look gorgeous and shiny again and his skin was completely cleared up in about 4 weeks.
A friend of mine has a black lab that also has skin allergies and she feeds him Burns food and in no time he was looking gorgeous again.
Sorry, I know dals & labs are short coated, but I think you will find food can make a massive difference.
