help with vet bills

hi everyone just looking forsome advice eally we have a 15 week oldstaffordshire bull terrier that we took to the vets today and was told she has genrealized demodex (sorry about the spelling) she has been started on antibiotics and that vet fore warned us that this will be a lengthly and expensive process involving skin scrapings and chemical dips to get her healthy again although we have pet insurance when we contacted them today they said as she has had this before the policy started (athough we didnt realize there was anything wrong with her other than a bit of dandruff) that the would not pay for the treatment and the rspca wont help neither will the pdsa we are on benifits and was wondering if anyone knew of any other organisations that can help with vet bills we are quite happy to pay for some of the vet bills but unfortunatly cant afford them all so any suggestions would be greatly recieved thanks for looking

If your in reciept of housing benefit, the PDSA will treat your dog, but not pay a third party vet.

Re: help with vet bills

Did you have your vet inspect the dog when you got it? If so, either the condition was there and you were told or it wasn't - in which case it's not a pre-existing condition.

Re: help with vet bills

Where did you get the dog? I'd be contacting the breeder.

Not if you live in certain areas.

PDSA and Blue Cross work via postcodes. If you like outside a catchment area, you're on your own.

The RSPCA can and do pay for treatment at private vet clinics, but only in certain circumstances.

Re: help with vet bills

AH! Insurances! I just find these days they keep finding a way out from paying..

Why not try a Royal veterinary college if you have one near you. You would have to stop treatment at your vet and continue at the college. They also help if you are on benefit, they are very understanding and much cheaper then an ordinary vet.
