How many meals

With my other dogs as puppies i have fed them 4 meals til 12wks and 3 meals til 6 months, then cutting down to 2.

Toby is 6 months old today he is a 3lb Yorkie
I am considering keeping him on 3 meals permanantly, I don't think he could eat 2 larger meals and he also enjoys having a lunch.

Does anyone else with little dogs feed 3 meals?

Re: How many meals

If I was at home I'd feed mine 3 x a day rather than 2. Especially with them being deep chested and prone to bloat.

Re: How many meals

i have a 4 month old shih tzu and i'm just about to move on to a three times a day feeding schedule, my question would now be how much food is the right amount?

i give her bakers dry puppy food as it is her brand of choice but i'm a little confused as to how much she she should have per meal? the directions on the pack are pretty broad so as an average i was going to go along the route of 50g of food per meal.

does anyone have any advice on this?

Re: How many meals

i feed my puppy ad lib, and having weighed what she east she actually east around the right amount according to the back of the james wellbeloved bag. i always prefer feeding ad lib if there is only 1 animal and no competition as i think most animals will regulate thier intake depending on what they need, expecially when its dry food as its not quite as appealing!
