Unhappy Puppy urinating blood

Hi, My 4 month old male cava king chrls span Rufus started passing blood in his urine on monday evening, i called the vets straight away who advised me that aslong as he was otherwise ok, to monitor him for 24hours and if he was still passing the blood the following day to bring him in with a sample. Needless to say he was still passing blood yesterday afternoon (although it had gone from being red to brownish) so it was of to the vets we go. The vet tested the sample i gave him and it came up positive for protein and blood (the vet didnt really explain what this could be) and he gave him an antibotic jab and told me to bring him back in today. Ive had a look online and the symptoms my rufus has got all look like a UTI, has anyone else experienced this with their dog? and if so how long was it before the bleeding actually stopped. Other then the bloody urine hes himself, hes pooing, playing, eating and drinking fine, his belly isnt swollen or hard and he's not in any pain.

Re: Puppy urinating blood

Does sound a lot like cystitis.

Is he going more frequently? Or just passing a few drops when he does go?

Ideally he needs a course of antibiotics. If its not clear in a few days, then id be tempted to have him scanned.

One of mine has had it once, and he was fine in about 3 to 4.

He's peeing as much as he usually does and isnt in any pain when he does although he has had a few accidents where hes not made it to his mat in time.

Re: Puppy urinating blood

If he isn't any better by Friday, then I would get him back to the vets before the weekend, but I'm sure there will be an improvement before then
