Those Who Feed Raw/BARF?

What would a typical weeks menu be and how much does it cost? I never work out the cost, (will do now! ) But I reckon it costs more than feeding kibble, or at least the same.

Weeks Menu for mine might be:

Monday am: minced beef. PM: Chicken Wings

Tuesday am: hearts. PM: lamb shanks

Weds am: liver/kidneys PM: whole raw fish

Thurs am: green tripe. PM: turkey drumstick

Friday am: chicken wings PM: Pigs Trotter

Sat Am: Pilchards in Tomato sauce PM: Breast of Lamb on the bone

Sunday am: Green tripe PM: Pork or beef ribs

It varies as they get duck legs or whole rabbit or other stuff like venison sometimes when I can get it.

They get 3-4 TBSP of blended fruit/veg 4 ish times a week, with nuts/seeds mixed in, and a bit of olive/sunflower/cod liver oil too.

Based on what is above, I reckon about £10 per week per dog.

I've just worked out that it costs me about £18 a week to feed 3 dogs including oil/yoghurt/veggies etc.

I forgot they get a couple of eggs a week each and youghurt a couple of times too. I'm now officially poor because of my dogs.....

Haha, okay make that £20 a week, forgot eggs.

They get mince with liver or kidneys, yoghurt and sunflower oil most mornings, some days with veg, some days with eggs. When they don't get mince they have whole hearts or turkey legs.

Then chicken carcasses, meaty lamb bones or beef bones in the afternoon. Which is where I save the money because I get them dirt cheap from a wholesale butchers.

never worked out exactly how much a weak it costs, but the chicken cost 7 pounds for a 13 kilo box i get a good deal of my butcher and the oil and stuff i buy from horse shops which is cheaper than a pet shop and you can get it in bulk, i think it is about 7 -10 pounds a week for all mine

Re: Those Who Feed Raw/BARF?

I bought my first lot of raw meat and bones 8 weeks ago my next order arrives on wed,
I ordered last time chicken minced with the bone , turkey minced with the bone , and heart and lung mince , the bones were knuckle end with meat on . each bag is pre weighed at 1lb and each dog gets 1 bag a day split into 2 meals , just meat in the morning 3 times a week they get a raw egg too , and on the eve they get pulped veg about 5 tbsp each , i usually do carrot , cabbage, courgete , spinach , mixed with sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds , with cod liver oil in the veg too . They also get 1 glucosamine tablet on advice of the vet .
My meat bill for the last 8 weeks was £35 this fed 2 labradors , at aprox £4.50 a week,
the fruit and veg and eggs bought from birmingham market was probably another £3 , so i guess i feed both dogs for about £7.70 a week .
My next order is for Heart and lung mince , chicken mince , and lamb mince and meaty rib bones . Im introducing beef next order . occasionally when i go to the fish market i get them salmon trimmings and cod cheeks , .
