Extremely worried!
As Luika has grown, we have noticed that his back legs seem uncoordinated and he is walking with a strange gait. I did mention this to the vets when Luika had his last injection, but it seems to have got worse.
I also mentioned this to the breeder when I took him back to see his brother and sister a couple of weeks ago, but she seemed to feel I need not worry. I have made an appointment to see our vets tomorrow, but I'm feeling really concerned at the moment, since GSD's are well known for having hip and hind quarter problems. Just wondered if there are any other GSD owners who's puppy went through the same thing. I guess I am looking for a little reassurance.

Re: Extremely worried!
Have you got a hydrotherapy pool near you - if so take her swimming it will muscle her up without overdoing the exercise bit and if there are any hip probs which I doubt
will help her firm up and keep the hips in the socket joints!!She sounds just like a germanic type puppy which walk with a 'wobble' like gait.

Re: Extremely worried!
There was someone on here with a doberman with back leg trouble a while ago , i think it ended up being that the tendons were stretched due to the rapid growth of the leg bones and that with time and gentle exercise things would ballance them selves out . If at all worried you can always seek vets advice again and i would sudgest starting him on Glucosamine weve had both Daisy and Jessie on 1000 mg a day for about 5 months now and will carry on doing so , Daisy has o c d in her elbow that in later life could devellop into artheritus so our vet sudgested Glucosamine as a help towards strengthening her bones and cartillage .

Its not hip dysplacier, already checked that with the vet, and our first Shepherd had terrible dysplacier, but lived to nearly 11. Andrea, we do have him on Glucosamine, and a little cod liver oil which he loves. It's just such a worry not knowing. Still, I have rearranged the vet appointment for tomorrow, as car just failed MOT, and hubby needs our other one today.
