Colitus/Food Help

Hiya Can anyone give me any tips on what to feed a dog with colitus please?
He's been to the vets and had meds but his poos are still disgusting. This is what he usually has (been eating this for ages) arden grange, prize choice mince and nature diet. Keeping him to chicken and rice hasn't made any change (vet advised that) at all.
Thanks in advance

Re: Colitus/Food Help

My GSD always had very sloppy poos & there was far too much of it. I now feed him Burgess Supadog Lamb & Rice for sensitive dogs in the evening. In the morning I changed to BARF & give him chicken wings & lamb breast. It suits him, don't know if it might help, but there is nothing worse than a dog with a sensitive tummy

Re: Colitus/Food Help

i really didn't think of actimel i have those myself so he can share mine
he's had no trouble for years but since he's been on different meds from when his back was paralyzed in march he seems to be getting more prone to things.
He's off all meds now so i'm hoping that he gets back to normal eventually. i was scared to change his food in case i made the problem worse.
You've given me hope now of not having to pick up exploding poos from the garden

Or just natural probiotic yoghurt. I give mine a tablespoon a day on top of their morning meal.

I have a Boxer with colitis,i have tried everything under the sun and the only food that keeps his poo as it should be is Burgess Supadog Sensitive. He now goes months between bouts of colitis, and i can pick his poo up rather then have to scrape it up

Re: Colitus/Food Help

Our second GSD suffered with colitus and someone suggested a herbal treatment which we sprinkled over his food. It worked, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name - sorry. You could try a reputable herbalist though.
