Sandy has a lump :-(

Not sure its anything to panic about just yet but found a fleshy lump on Sandys front leg.

She hasn't seemed herself lately just not as lively she used to be. She used to have good play sessions with the pup but wont at all anymore and although she loves being out and walks she just doesnt bound along like she used to, and a few people have commented while we've been out with her that shes an old dog....shes only supposed to be 6 she was 4 when we got her from the cocker rescue 2 years ago or so they told us. And she bought in by her owner for genuine reasons so they shud have known.

Taking her to the vets for a check tomorrow make sure the lump is nothing serious and get their advice on her age. Someone told me that the teeth were a good way to tell as in the amount of tartyr build up is a lot more in older dogs but she doesn't seem to have much at all.

I checked her over last nite having a good feel for anything odd when I found the the lump, prayin its nuffin serious but may be something to do with why she seems a bit lethargic??????

thanx.....it feels like a fatty lump cos its soft if that makes sense so I'm hoping its just that.

she hardly went in the water just had a paddle didnt see her drink any not like the other stupid pup lol, but you maybe right about the sun shes terrible for laying outside when its hot she will search out the sunniest spot in the garden

we had just put her quietness down to getting the new pup bit of jealously that she was getting attention as for 2 years its only been her getting it all but its when 2 different people thought she was an 'old girl' I started to think....she acts like an old woman lol and at 6 she really shudnt be she sleeps a lot like she needs the rest but not off her food she hasnt any problems there!

one of my girls was eating inbetween giving birth...now thats rare lmao.

It may be the weatha, but only time will tell wen u tak her to the vets tomoz...as for the lump...how big is it out of interest???

Re: Sandy has a lump :-(

Just tried to measure it I reckon bout and inch and a half to 2 inches roughly and it doesnt seem to be hurting her shes not bothered by me touchin it. Its just above her knee joint. I read another thread and seems older dogs get lots of fatty lumps which is another thing thats making me wonder if shes older than we think.

I will be gutted to find out she is older cos u think u have lots of time left with them, I'm worryin more about that than the lump! but guess we need to know to make sure we r doing the right things for her and as Im paying insurance for her and need to have her age right.

Re: Sandy has a lump :-(

I got her from fife cocker rescue and the guy that handed in to be rehomed had lost his wife to cancer and was workin away and couldnt look after her anymore so he wasnt a careless owner who didnt know his dog and he said to the rescue she was 4 that coming xmas so that should only make her 6 now.

Honestly she mooches along like an old biddy lol....unless theres a gravy bone involved my daughter had her running up and down the garden for them last week so she can be lively if she wants to be! and the tail well waggy stump is still as lively as ever, I'm hoping it is just the hot weather making her lethargic and grumpy lol

I dont think its fluid Andrea its a bit higher than her knee joint doesnt seem somewhere that would get knocked easily and not sure shes done anything engergetic enough to have knocked it on anything but I may be wrong.
