Re: What puppy food?????
The idea of weaning is to get the puppy off milk and onto adult food. Most vets will tell you that giving milk to pups is an old fashioned idea and one likely to cause upset tums. It might be OK in the very early stages of weaning (although still likely to cause upset tums) but is a reall no no for me later on.
Oats and cereals are not foods dogs are designed to eat. 4 meals a day is enough for any puppy, 3 for most. Unless you have very good knowledge on the dietary needs of pups (the suggestion that you don't liek the idea of eggshells suggest to me you don't) then it would be a very bad idea to wean them onto anything other than a complete. You will be risking very serious growth and other problems. Although they contain grain, (rice which is the lesser of the evils!) completes like James Wellbeloved, Burns, Royal Canin, Arden Grange are those you should be looking at. Orijen (no grains) if you can get it and afford it. I wouldn't feed my dog pedigree puppy complete if my life depended on it. The clue is in the colour. ![]() |
