Re: I think my dog is ill

How is your boy now? I hope he is ok, it sounds like a scenario I had with my dog and he had an intestinal blockage caused by 2 socks! He was operated on to remove them and he was right as rain after, but it was a worry with him being so sick! I must admit that was the most expensive pair of socks I've ever owned, in the end they cost just short of £1500.00 Thank god I had insurance, overall in his first year of life his vetinary treatment came to £6500.00 So his insurance paid for itself quite nicely!

Re: I think my dog is ill

Ouch that's quite a lot, lucky you had insurance.

Yep he's perfectly fine still still very nervous of a lot of dogs, even more so then this time last year and I'm not sure, I live about 10 steps away from a big park with 2 huge fields so he's always been in contact with other dog, just seems to be a bit cautious of them now.

if a dog comes up to see him, he'll just run towards me and sit on my feet with the most scared look on his face, very cute and funny to watch, but I just wish he'd have fun and play rather then running scared.

Each dog to their own I guess

Re: I think my dog is ill

You really shouldnt take him to the park while he has been throwing up or had the runs - its not fair on other dog walkers as it may have been a viral infection that other dogs could of picked up - letting him mingle and play with other dogs while hes been unwell too could have passed on anything he had.
Glad hes better now but please if it happens in the future dont be letting him mingle and go to public parks until you know what is wrong with him

Hi, I would ring the vet and tell him your situation money wise and family on holiday and then make an appointment, i have found most vets are fine with this and let you pay after! Good luck with your visit, let us know how you get on!

Sorry I didn't think about that, that's a good point because dogs do run up and eat anything, good point and noted for the future

Re: I think my dog is ill

Hey hun,
Im glad ur boy is getting better, I think i'd take him for a check up when your parents get back just to be sure he is fully fit, cos i'd hate to hear something bad has happened to him just when you thought he was better x

Re: I think my dog is ill

Sounds like hes had a viral infection as hes now all better and back to himself again - or with your parents away he went off his food etc - a kind of depression as in missing your parents that he didnt want to eat and only drank a little - this would lead to the runs etc - who knows what it was now but I am glad hes back to himself again

Re: I think my dog is ill

Yer could have been, though he doesn't really spend any time with mum sis or bro, I walk him 4-5 times a day totalling around 4hours, and I also spend all day with him, but none of them walk him etc so I don't think he was missing them lol

He's off to be chipped and have booster injections soon so will tell the vet all about this then
