Re: I think my dog is ill

I am sorry, but I feel I have to be blunt. Your dog is very sick. He needs to see a vet urgently. Not taking him to the vet amounts to neglect. He could have a blockage or something else which could kill him and could easiyl dehydrate in this hot weather we are having.

Your vet is legally and ethically obliged ot treat your dog, tellt hem that. if they won't listen, tell them you will take it up with the BVA. If that doesn't work, try a different vets. Your dog needs to see a vet ASAP. URGENTLY.

I am sorry to be so pointed, but I don't think you realise the urgency of the situation.

Re: I think my dog is ill

My Daughter went away for the weekend , my grandaughter 16yrs has a cat who was really ill we have a vet hospital she walked in made apointment and they saw to the cat, she them told them her mum would pay when she got home left her address phone no, and left .so they really had no choice as they had already seen to her cat, you cant normally do that unless you have prior agreement with them, i really think your dog needs looking at now maybe you could do it that way.

Re: I think my dog is ill

I am seriously wondering if this is a wind-up surely no-one would leave a dog suffer for as long as this I am seriously worried about de-hydration as he says the dog isnt drinking much

Re: I think my dog is ill

Every vet i go to does not take the payment till after the dogs have been seen you pay on the way out, im sure most do it that way, this poor dog needs to get to a vet now, i would just take it even if i had no money and i think thats what should be done now or even get vet out to house they always send a bill then , there are always ways around things.

Must agree....he sez it wa drinking in little laps and not the normal gulps it takes...also he sez it had eaten abit today but it hasnt been to loo for at least the 4th day today surely that amount of time of not going to the loo the dog will be in terrible agony and his tummy bloated.

Re: I think my dog is ill

Hmm must admit I'm a bit offended that some of you think this may be a wind up, I assure you it's not...google my username you'll see I talk about him on a few forums, look at the home directory of where my pictures are, there's a few pictures of him.
And like I said, it's hard to explain on here but I know and love my dog very much, If I thought he was in pain i'd take him right this second and take something like my computer and tell them to hold on to it till the parents get back, but I didn't feel at any point it was "urgent" and needed to be seen to asap.

When he hurt his leg last year I carried him home (anyone with a dog that size knows the weight of them), took him straight to the vets and it turns out he'd just banged it and he was fine, that's an example of what I would do if I felt something was seriously wrong.

However I gave it a few days like I said, and he's picked up 200%

It's not "at least 4 days" since he ate, he didn't eat all saturday or sunday...However he ate cat crunchies this morning, nicked the cat food/meat stuff then ate 2 cups (throughout the day) of his food, which is about right if not more then what he normally eats.
He's also drinking fine now, drunk probably 2 big bowls of water and just as fast as normal.

Took him out today and he ran around with 2 other dogs for half hour then played ball with me for 20mins and was completely fine, infact he's waiting at the door now for our nightly run so will take him out again in a bit.

Btw what's this "warm weather" someone mentioned, been thunder storms here for the last 3 days and predicted rain for about the next 4 lol.

He had a few runny poo's when he was out (which I tried to pick up and just failed miserably...you can't really pick liquid up in a bag lol), but apart from that he's his usual self now.

Rest and looking after done the trick.

But guys I really must stress, I love my dog very much, I walk him 3-4 times a day every day despite bad weather, I would never keep him in ANY pain if I thought he was and I certainly would not join a forum to pretend my dog is sick, that's just wrong and I can't stress enough I have not lied a single bit and I really did phone around many places and even go down to the rspca (which was closed).

Not much really to do now, he really seems 100% fine, so happy now as I couldn't stop thinking about it.

The cat is back to opening the front room door and the dog is back to wondering out when he's not supposed to lol, partners in crime.

Thank you very much for all your help, you don't know how appreciated it is/
