Re: Homeopathic Vaccine

Everything I've read about them seems to be pretty negative. I've been thinking about having titre tests done when their boosters are due instead of just vaccinating, does anyone else do that?

Thanks ajshep. A lot of Americans do titre testing and most(ones I know) have found their dogs have never needed another vaccine

I'll see what my vets got to say about it then? Pups will still be done next time around anyway because that's what seems to be advised by most but will get Milo tested instead.

Re: Homeopathic Vaccine

I know of someone who had a dog who only had his puppy injections and the one following that and it never got any of those diseases. It's like human vaccines when you've had it you don't need to get it again. I think vaccines is the vet's way of making money?
like most things vets do.

I agree I have only ever gotpuppy injections and then 1 booster in the last 22 years, never lost a dog yet to any disease's they cover. Have been reading ads etc as mentioned on homeopathic ones and just wondered what they were all about

AH i know a little bit about them
apparently they have a little bit of what is in the boosters and you give them i think it's 1 a week when you start, then it works down to 1 a month. but personally i still think its just a way of making money.

Re: Homeopathic Vaccine

I have used the kennel cough nosodes when there is kennel cough around and have never had a problem, even gave them to a litter of young pups in the water when the kc was rife. but never used the vaccines.

I have heard good and bad about homeopathic nosodes, they are not with risk of adverse reaction.

I had my oldest girl (3) had her puppy vacs at 10 and 12 weeks, been titred every yar since and so far hasn't needed vaccinating again. I don't titre or vaccinate for lepto though.

I had wanted to have our new pup titred prior to any vaccination, but her breeder got her first vacc done without asking! LOL If we breed another litter and keep one, I will have the pup titred prior to vaccination. I know a couple of people with 3 or 4 year old dogs that have never been vaccinated and are tested as immune.

You might have trouble getting your vet to take blood for a titre. Most vets discourage it, or charge a ridiculous amount.
