Help With A Feeding Issue Please:)

As a few of ya know our cassie is a funny bugger,,, when we got her she was on a cheap puppy food, we got her on to a good dry complete which she ate for a few weeks then refused so we mixed raw mince in which she ate for a few weeks then refused, so we then cooked the mince she ate for a while and then refused.... she has even refused tripe!, so to get her to eat she is now on tinned pedigree chum which i dont want her to stay on its only a short term answer to the problem. does anyone have any ideas/recipes to try and tempt her please lol....................... and just not feeding her n she will eat when she is hungry doesnt work she is bloody stubborn

thanks all

Could you not feed her raw ??? or would that not be convenient for you , You can vary what she eats by giving different raw meats thus preventing her form getting board .

Re: Help With A Feeding Issue Please:)

Hi I am not really very good with dogs not eating. I have always had multiple dogs at home so they eat no problem. I know a lot of people have great sucess with the BARF diet.
Only input I can give is years ago, I had a rescue Shih Tzu, when I got her at first she would not eat. I used to mix chicken gravy granules into her dry food and that worked, although probably not good for her at the time due to salt content etc...But I felt the bad outweighed the good in that situation until she settled, then she was okay with food

I think you know what I'll say: BARF.

I'll lend you some books when I get them back from Val if you want?

I've never known a dog refuse raw tripe, never cook it though as it will stink

Re: Help With A Feeding Issue Please:)

same here i would recomend the barf but i would also say dont give in to her as im sure she would not starve herself to death, my inuit girl is the same sometimes she wouldnt eat for days and i would get upset because she was not eating and i would try everything as you have then i just got to grips with things and said to myself she will eat or die and i still have her 5 years later, the good thing about the barf is that you cannot leave it down so she has to eat it there and then or wait till the next meal.it will be hard but you must be strong and say no im doing it my way
