Blood and Mucus in pooh again....

I have a 13 week old shitzhu pup. Since have had she she has sufferred from blood and mucus in her pooh. A few days of Hills I/D tinned food always does the trick and she has 'normal' poohs. However they vet has said to try her on the dry version of the i/d and the blood and mucus is back. Its exactly the same stuff but dry.... Could it be that she doesnt get on with dry food???

The vet is sure its her food as the only time she suffers is when we start changing her food. How long should i keep trying with the dry i/d??

I dont mind her having a wet diet if thats what suits her but have no idea what the best.

I have to add that she is a really happy pup, plays well and has a halthy coat. Its just this reaccurring problm. Any advice would be really appreciated.xxxx

Go back on the tins if it works.
Dry food isn't necessarily better just more convenient for most people

Dont really want to keep her on the prescription food forever, as its very expensive. obviously if i need to i will, but would like advice on tinned foods if this is the route i need to take.

Nature menu tins are of excellent quality.
My young golden of 15weeks has them all the time.
Available from pets at home.

Not so good for puppies but will be an alternative for later to get off the expensive food.
If it's a small breed puppy, it should be fine at about 6 months. Better than always having an upset tum, whatever the age

You beat me to it. Chappie has settled our 12 week old pup who had this problem. I am actually reluctant to take him off it. Vet said it was OK. The original is fish based and I recommend it, so does Hedley.

Yes Chappie is very good, my vet recommended it for our elderly Lurcher who had a stomach ulcer she has had no blood in her motions since.
