Charlie Bear is on a distinguished road
Eplilpsy

Hi Everyone

I have a 2 1/2 year old border collie. 5 months ago he had his first fit, then a few days later he clustered fitted. Our vet run all the necessary tests and we were told that Charlie has epilipsy. We are devastated. Charlie is on Epiphen and Potassium Bromide. However the longest Charlie has gone is 5 weeks seizure free, he his now only going every 2 weeks. Our vet has told us that it could be Charlie is not responding to the tablets. We changed his food to Burns and James Wellbeloved. Does anyone know which is the better one out of the two? Does anyone know of any herbal remedies we could try?

Hi Charlie Bear sorry to hear about that Im afraid changing his food, and herbal remedies probably wont have much of an effect. Some dogs sadly dont respond to medication is he insured at all? if he is you ask to be referred to a specialist neurologist who might be able to help but they are sadly quite expensive without insurance

Hi Molly,

Thank you for your reply. Yes Charlie is insured, thank goodness. Due to the tablets Charlie appetite is through the roof, he's into everything and he also stuggling with seperation anxiety. I feel so sorry for him, I wish could do more for him. I will speak to my vet about a specialist. Thank you.

Agree - def ask for referral the specialists may even be able to offer other medications that will work for charlie or even help to reduce the frequency ofthe fits.
