Re: worms in poo

Would tend to maybe steer clear of the Milbemax if you are going to get the tablets from anywhere other then a vet, as some breeds have been known to have reactions to this brand.

Also you say you have not seen evidence of worms before, you do not have to see worms for them to be there, worming at regular intervals is the best bet to avoid worm invasions

Milbemax is still prescription-only anyway, isn't it? I only mentioned it (and asked whether they were imported dogs or bought here) as Milbemax kills some worms that Drontal and Panacur don't, and as these might be 'continental dogs' that could be an issue needing consideration.

Re: worms in poo

You are probably correct, I normally just pick mine up from the vet anyway, they don't charge a great deal, it is the drontol that he normally gives me, and have seen those in the chemist but do not pay that much attention to be honest.

Re: worms in poo

A quick Google suggests that Milbemax is indeed still POM-V. I'm sure you could find a 'dodgy' site if you tried hard enough though lol At the end of the day Ivan, if the dogs are so full of worms they're pooing out quantities of them live, and the dogs have lost weight, you should probably take them to the vet for a check-up regardless, and buy the wormer while you're there!

It doesn't matter how clean you are Ivan! You don't need to eat the dog poo to catch worms... The worms EGGS live in your dogs spit (saliva) in their mouth, so every time they lick you, or you touch them, you can catch worms. The eggs are so tiny they are invisible, so you get them on your hands and then they end up in your mouth (when you touch your face or the dogs lick you and manage to get your lips haha).

Make sure you worm the dogs every 12 weeks now, to be safe.
