She is very healthy in every other aspect, lively, glossy coat, eating, drinking, solid poos, very loving, bright easy to train, there is nothing else that worries me.

Thats a really good idea about recording her, although it will probably be a while before she does it again, but it does worry me that the vets wont take me seriously (not the best vets in the world) so if they don't i will be able to go back with something for them to see.

Many thanks
I hope your dog is ok hon.

Question though - if you think they are not the best vets in the world, then why don't you change vets?

Re: Terrified its brain damage

I used to have a staffie that did this, he used to "tread the grass" as they called it, but he used to do it before he sat down. He'd go round about 20 times then lay day. But i rescued him from a not too nice kennels and I believe he did it out of bordem and then it became a habbit.

Hope the vets give you a diagnosis.

Bit of a long shot but google 'vestibular syndrome ' and see if the symptoms fit.
It must be heartbreaking for you, good luck xxx

Hi, quite a long story, but the main reason is that we did change to the only other vets within a reasonable distance, as i wasn't happy with some treatment that my local vets did with my horse quite a while ago, anyway, they were fine and i was happy with them for a while, until one day i could'nt get to them, as its quite a distance, so i took my persian cat in an emergency to the local one am with now for quickness, and the long and short of it is that they found he had a bad heart murmer, which only two months previous he had a full health check over for his booster at the other vets and they said he was full of health, how could they miss that???/. So long and short is that i don't trust the other vets now at all, so had no choice but to come back to my local although them finding the heart murmer has give'n me some confidence back.
Hope that makes sence and answers your question,

Re: Terrified its brain damage

Hi, went to the vets, she said that she fine, and gave her a good going over. she thinks it might be something she does when she gets over excited, which made sence as its only happened when out on a walk and once in the garden where she was playing with my other dogs. Any way she said that i have got to keep my eye on her and if she starts to show any other signs then to take her back.

Im happy with that for now, but will be keeping a close eye on her.

Many thanks for caring!

Re: Terrified its brain damage

One of my guys if he gets excited does this too, its sort of like he is chasing his tail, but he isnt lol, we just let him do it a few times and then stop him, it seems as if he is embarrassed when he does it because it normally happens after the older dog has given him the "eye" to behave lol.

Re: Terrified its brain damage

Dixie does it too.. if she is exited or bored. Sometimes she won't do it for ages and then she does it loads.
And she keeps doing it until she grabs her tail. She gets dizzy you can see her eyes going funny. Lol
Her brother when in rescue did the same they were also worried he had epilepsy but is seems its just a habit they developed, maybe from lack of stimulation as pups- didn't come from too great a home!
