Re: Wormers and flea treatments?
Based on advice I was given on here and from my vets (when I panicked having given my kittens 3 x recommended dose of panacur paste) if in doubt always go a "size" up for the wormers. The reason why you have to weigh your pet carefully for wormers is so that you give them enough to kill the worms, not because the dose could be dangerous. I'm told it's very hard to overdose on wormers; the safety margin is enormous xxx hope that helps xxx
Saying that, I've been using diatomaceous earth as a wormer on the cats and dog and as far as I can tell it's done a sterling job ![]() Last edited by lady_r0gue; 15-11-2009 at 02:03 PM.. |

Re: Wormers and flea treatments?
I use drontal plus for my lot. I get the packs of 24 tablets from canine chemist. My vet also advised me it was better to go to the next weight up than the next size down. The last time I wormed William he weighed 36kg so I gave him the dose for 40kgs

Re: Wormers and flea treatments?
I rotate wormers as they all kill certain species that others don't (eg Panacur kills giardia and others don't). Milbemax is an excellent all-round wormer, I tend to use that if I suspect infestation. Prevention wise it's a round of Panacur, Drontal+ and Milbemax. This also helps prevent immunity (a great many worms are immune to Panacur now).
My dogs work around farms and stock, and kill a lot of vermin (they're working terriers) though, so I do have to be extra vigilant for things like this. |
