Question Soft dental chews?

This might be a stupid question but is it possible to buy soft dental chews for dogs? Mika find the original dentastix to hard to eat. Any ideas?

Re: Soft dental chews?

What about puppy versions? I've only ever gave Blu the puppy ones a few times because mums friend got him them but he had ate them in seconds so he now gets adult ones because it keeps him quiet a few seconds longer

Re: Soft dental chews?

Have you thought about greenies? The new formulation is relatively soft. The older formulation caused some dogs to have intestinal obstructions so they had to change the formula. The new ones dissolve really easily and most dogs can chew them well.

Dr. Marie.
I saw these greenies yesterday in P@H but didnt buy them as I was worried they wouldnt be ttolerated with a dog with sensitive stomach. I was also put off by the green colour as we have had problems with green poo and I didnt want to cause confusion!

Are they OK?

Re: Soft dental chews?

I think they're good. The green colour is chlorophyl which is good for teeth as well. As with any new treat you need to introduce them slowly. If you gave a bunch all at once that could definitely cause stomach upset.

My lot love greenies, and also love Cerea chews, but they are very hard.

Re: Soft dental chews?

I'd recommend raw (uncooked) chicken wings. The processed dental chews contains lots of additives, sugars and preservatives.

An uncooked wing, lamb ribs or legs for larger dogs are about the best for keeping teeth clean.

While most dogs can handle raw chicken wings just fine I have had several cases where dogs were either injured or quite sick after eating these.
