Dog food

Hi.

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler and a 3 year staff bull terrier.

I never really worried to much about the food that I gave them up until a few months ago and so I would feed them on different brands of dried food.

I then decided that I wanted to give them the best food available and started looking into it a bit more.

I have now been feeding them on James Wellbeloved and just wanted to check if this is a top quality dog food.

There is so much conflicting info on the net and I want to make sure that it will be beneficial for them.

Many thanks.

Re: Dog food

JWB is a good food but there are many others too - have a look at the ingredients of the food your looking at and avoid maize, corn, wheat and soya. A good meat content is good (25% min) and it will be fine for them Protein content around 20% is pretty standard but the higher the better really You may want to look at a senior kibble for your Rottie

Re: Dog food

JWB is good but vey expensive and other cheaper brands are just as good if not better - try Vitalin dog food, i swapped from JWB to that around 6 months ago and my dogs love it and its packed full of nutrients etc so is really good for them :-) I get mine sensitive dog food from Luxury Pet Store - Luxury Dog & Cat Beds - Vitalin Pet Food Uk

Re: Dog food

Thanks very much for the advice.

Is Vitalin genuinely a good quality food. It seems very cheap compared to JWB, almost half the price.

Re: Dog food

Dog food which have the the first 3 ingredients of meat like chicken meat, beef meat, lamb meat is usually good. Also grain free dog foods are much better than those which are not.

You try to search in google for reviews of certain dog foods before deciding to buy one.

Yup! I definitely agree on this data. We must choose what is best for our dogs.

Re: Dog food

yeah Vitalin is a great choice, I think the fact that its cheaper puts some people of but i've done a lot of research and its really good for the dogs plus they love it, I stick with the premium food - deffinitely worth a try.

Re: Dog food

Thing is, if they are fit and well on James Wellbeloved, you might be as well leaving them on it. I have found out that chopping and changing can cause more problems than it solves. Also you want to make sure its easy to get your choice of food, if you can get James W locally thats another plus.
