Re: chappie

Super Super Super food if your dog gets on with it.
We nearly lost our Chesapeake with tum problems, and Chappie is the only food he can eat
I have never heard of a dog staying on drugs for life with this, ours nearly died and no longer needs drugs

Re: chappie

Hi he has been on antibiotics for the last 3years 3 a day if I try and stop them we go back to start when he was first ill he is 10years old so I will do what I can to keep him well, not really happy about the tablets, but you have put my mind at rest about the chappie although its a bit like paste.

Re: chappie

If he's been on antibiotics for 3 years, did he still have episodes in that time?

Re: chappie

Since he went on the tablets he stopped passing blood and mucus this was every day,he had no end of test done. Now he only has very rare soft toilet but no blood the vet has said double the tablets for a few days if that happens or the only other option is to open him up and see whats going on(her words not mine)but hes 10years old and enjoys his walks so I dont want to do that to him.

Re: chappie

I know that you have got to go with what your vet says, but have a look at this
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in Dogs

This is what our Chessie had and Sulphazine tablets work when he has an episode.
He was opened up

Re: chappie

Any dogs that come into our home with sensitive tummies we feed them chappie and they can keep it in/down, a very good food even though it will not break the bank.

Re: chappie

My elderly dog had Inflammatory Bowel disease. The foods she was worse on were the "hypoallergenic" high quality premium types. She did very well on Butchers/Pedigree Chum. Medication wise she was on prednisolone for life and anti-biotics periodically (though this was more to do with the immunosuppressive qualities of the steroids).

My dog was 14/15 when she was diagnosed and we opted not to go for exploratory surgery either but she did have an ultrasound. She lived for another five years so hopefully yours can have a long life yet!
