Unhappy Bob's wound

Well, Bob was doing so well at leaving his nuts & back legs alone but one of the sites where his dewclaw was removed has gotten infected so he's now on antibiotics & anti inflammatory drugs for a week. He had a lampshade collar on but somehow managed to contort enough to lick his wound anyway, so he has been a nightmare patient, plus the vet said he had to have on-lead walks only, which we have done, much to Bob's frustration. We've been told he mustn't be walked for 3 days now & I'm dreading what he's going to be like. Has anyone got any ideas for entertaining him that doesn't involve walking him or playing fetch? He has to take it easy

Ratdog will become famous soon enough
Re: Bob's wound

General training can help knackering them out. Teach him new tricks. The mental stimulation should help keep him occupied. Obviously its not going to have the same affect as a nice walk but may help.

Re: Bob's wound

Can only think of maybe a huge raw marrowbone from the butcher

To speed up healing the wound you could try manuka honey applied to it,bit pricey but cheaper than a vet bill and better for the dog than anti biotics.

Good luck

Re: Bob's wound

dont entertain them .. if you are looking for things to do they will be too - he should rest naturally anyway, you just have to keep yourself calm and not present him with excitable everyday comes or dinner time bells if you know what I mean

Dirky47 is on a distinguished road
Re: Bob's wound

Well, you play with him without walking... Just tickle him then he would be happy enough.
