feeding cooked chicken liver?

hello all

i am getting a puppy and have been advised by the breeder to get some frozen tripe mince in for it to go with his dry food.

i wouldn't mind home cook some simple meat stuff for him but wondering what would be good? is boiled chicken liver a good idea?

thanks!

Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

I havent given any of my dogs cooked chicken liver, as I thought it may be a bit too rich for a little puppy?. But I have given boiled chicken, fish and also mince boiled up and drained the water off then rinsed in boiled water again. I put a little of these into my pups food when they were little and they loved it.

I've never tried feeding Chicken liver to my dogs. Better feed them white meats.

Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

it is best not to feed too much liver to dogs/s puppies as it can build up a vitamin A toxicity which can be dangerous.

there is no need to cook meat stuff before giving it to your pup ,

either search on here or google BARF diets and you should get all the info you need

Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

Yah, research is needed here. Do not feed anything that comes in your mind. It might harm your pets.

hi. why not make him some liver cake.
8ozs Liver [preferably Lambs] i use chicken livers
4ozs S/R Flour
2 Eggs
2 Cloves Garlic/ or 2 tsps garlic puree.

Put all the ingredients into a blender until the mixture is smooth, pink and runny [not too rigid a requirement if you prefer to make it a bit chunky' Pour into greased swiss roll type baking tin and place in the oven [Gas Mark 4] for around 30-40 minutes.
Leave to cool and cut into bite size pieces.
It can be frozen into individual bags
