Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

This sounds fun. Maybe the kids can have some too.

8ozs Liver [preferably Lambs] i use chicken livers
4ozs S/R Flour
2 Eggs
2 Cloves Garlic/ or 2 tsps garlic puree.

Put all the ingredients into a blender until the mixture is smooth, pink and runny [not too rigid a requirement if you prefer to make it a bit chunky' Pour into greased swiss roll type baking tin and place in the oven [Gas Mark 4] for around 30-40 minutes.
Leave to cool and cut into bite size pieces.
It can be frozen into individual bags

Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

Chicken livers are nice with streaky bacon rolled round them and baked in the oven: for humans of course! My mum calls them devils on horseback for some reason.

My MILs poodle used to eat liver and he had awful bad teeth, lost them all, but this was because he didnt eat dog biscuits. He also had quite bad breath. I think Im right in saying that chicken livers can be quite rich for dogs on their own.

Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

i know what you mean! That's one of the reasons I asked about feeding chicken liver as I could never eat a whole box of 10 livers on my own! lol Thought if i could share some with the puppy then it'd be easier for me to get to eat chicken liver more often.

Re: feeding cooked chicken liver?

There is no problem feeding cooked chicken livers but by cooking them you destory most of the nutrients. Fed raw is the best approach. You can feed upto 5% of their diet if you are feeding dry or wet processed foods upto 10% if you are feeding a raw meat diet. Start with tiny amounts as liver can cause runny poo.

No red meat is best it contains the highest nutrient levels.
