Re: dog vaccinations

I think it also depends on your vet. Our vet is excellent and we trust him whole heartedly. He has vaccinated our litter recently and given one shot of DHIPPI and 2 of Lepto. As our pups have gone for vet checks with their new owners some are saying this vaccination regime is fine, while others are saying the pups need a second DHIPPI.
To put our own minds at rest we researched the vaccines. And although 2 shots of DHIPPI give ultimate protection one shot gives enough coverage.

We then spoke to our vet and his theory is not to overload young pups with drugs.

Re: dog vaccinations

You can get something called a titre test.

It tests your dog's blood for the amount of immunity to specific diseases (like the original vaccines) and if it is high enough you do not have to revaccinate.

It is more expensive than regular boosters, but I may well do it with Roo in the future, there have been apparent cases of problems with dogs being overvaccinated, but I don't know of any specifically.
