Prostate cancer
Hi i've just registered. Not sure where we go from here but would like to hear from anyone with a dog who's had a similar problem
I have a 6 year old Weimeraner dog. He was castrated 4 years ago, just had a fatty lump removed from his side 5 weeks ago which is fine now. He has now got a large growth on his prostate which we are 90% sure it's malignant. The vet has assured us the two are not in anyway connected.
We only have a couple of options. Let him carry on as he is, straining alot cus he thinks he needs to poo all the time, also taking into account that this mass has gone from a walnut size to an apple in a week. So i guess it will be the matter of weeks until it takes over.
Put him to sleep before he gets anymore uncomfortable.
Or let him have an op that will only buy him time, at best months or upto 12 if he's lucky. The op is not an easy one and it can make him incontinent mildy to severely. This we won't know until it's done. He may only get a couple of good months from it.
We are awaiting lab results but it's very hard and a minerally type mass which isn't good.
Please, i would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about this.
