Arden Grange are winning me over..!

I went onto their website and sent a query off re nutrition etc.

Roo has the odd loose poop and they aren't as firm as I would like them to be, and he has had a few issues with his anal glands. Well, I got a lovely reply saying he may have atopy which is the allergic reaction to inhalents like pollen which he had all summer. She also said the most likely culprit out of everything, causing a slight symptom appearance at the moment, is wheat, and there is lots of it in his current food.

She also said beef and pork are common allergens to dogs like Roo who is sensitive to pollen, and this completely ties in, the amount and occurence of his loose poops, with when he has been given a pigs ear! Quite a few things have just clicked together and I think we are going to move away from Alpha altogether, as well as beef and pork.

She is going to send me some free samples and I'm cutting out the pigs/cows ears as of today, so hopefully we will see some improvements soon. I intend to wean him off his alpha which has beef in pretty soon, so will find something suitable soon hopefully.

This post is more to say to people if you have any questions for AG ask them, you get a lovely long reply and they seem very nice people!

thumbs up from us

I have fed all of my dogs on Arden Grange now for about 15 years and never had any problems. Present dogs all look very healthy on it! The Weimaraner I used to have was gluten intolerant when I adopted her but was always fine on Arden Grange.

Re: Arden Grange are winning me over..!

I'm currently feeding my beagle pup mainly on natures diet wet food with beta puppy mixed in as this was what dry food the breeder gave us a big bag of. Im coming to the end of the bag and so am looking for a better quality dry food to mix in with the wet so opinions on Arden Grange would be fab as most seem to approve of it?? Also is it ok to mix some wet and dry food? Sorry for hijacking thread

You hijack all you like

Rupert had a combination of wet and dry when he was young, he only gets dry now as its more convenient and I prefer it to wet.

I think I said this in your last thread - but have you tried stopping with the wet food, wet on its own was good or dry on its own was good but as soon as i mixed the two there were runs.

Rupert doesn't get any wet food, when he came from the breeder he was on a combination but since about 5 months old he has only been on dry stuff
