Enzyme supplement for my jack russell

Hi all, Junst wondering if an enzyme supplement with: ( Protease, Amylase, Invertase, Glucoamylase, Lipase, Peptidase, Malt diastase, Xylanase... more Protease, Amylase, Invertase, Glucoamylase, Lipase, Peptidase, Malt diastase, Xylanase, Cellulose, Lactase, Tannase, Fenugreek seed, Ginger rhizhome, Fennel seed. Contains sodium benzoate. ) as the ingredients would be ok for my dog? It is a human enzyme supplement. Otherwise if anyone could recommend a website that sells dog enzyme supplements that would be great

I take it this is to aid or settle digestion? I havent got a clue what half of them are not to mention what they do but what is the reason you want to introduce something - someone may be able to point you to a decent doggy product

Re: Enzyme supplement for my jack russell

HI james1, The enzymes are to aid digestion. Ankles is a 10yr old jack russell, he had a skin cancer removed about 2 years ago but no other health problems. Ideally I would like to get alot more raw food in his diet but its not always practical so that is why i am going the way of enzymes, to aid his digestion into his later years, although his still has alot of bounce now!

Re: Enzyme supplement for my jack russell

Sorry to hear about the cancer and im glad its cleared up. Id say go for a more glucosomine based suppliment to aid reglaur joint movement rather than a suppliment to help bowel function. If hes on a senior kibble things like feniguc (sp!!) will already be in this, kibbles use different ingredients to help this so by adding extras to it you could well unballance the formula - what is it your feeding him at the moment?
Dorwest herbs are probably the best company as far as suppliments so you might want to have a look at their website, some products are expensive but well worth their money - the glucosomine+ chondrotin tablets are probably the best on the market though they do suppliments to cover all ills really.
You could boost the stomach enzymes by using a live natural yoghurt for a month which will replace essential enzymes for digestion. Id only use this for a limited time though
