Dry PUPPY food, which one?

Following on from my post about the cat poo lol......

Freddie is currently fed: Pets at home range of: Moist meaty chunks, puppy, with chicken and country vegetables. A complete and balanced dog food.

He is given 3 handfulls each morning of this and once given he'll go through it to find his favourite bits and will then just pick at it all day, and when we go to bed each night there is still food left which we take away (as we do the cats food so both cats and puppy) don't eat each others food.

When we were in Pets at Home the other day I think I saw an offer for Bakers complete puppy food I think 2 bags for £8.00

Should we be changing his food??

Thank you in advance

xxxx

Re: Dry PUPPY food, which one?

Personally I would not touch Bakers with someone elses barge pole let alone my own! And I'd sooner eat it myself then give it to my dog!!

Being a wet fan Nature diet is a supurb quality food!

If you are sold on dry look at one of the better ranges like Arden Grange!

As for the change! any you make needs to be gradual! Introducing to new mixed with the old over a period of time! That way you will minimize and upsets!!

Also it is not recommend to leave food down on the floor all day, you are best to have specific meal times, removing any uneaten food after a reasonable time. Do not know a lot about small breeds but would say that four meals a day would maybe be right!

I have never used Bakers but from what I have read it is like feeding a toddler with loads of sugary sweets. I feed my puppy Burns mini bites and my 3 year old westie has a mix of Burns Chicken & Rice with a small amount of Natures Diet.

Re: Dry PUPPY food, which one?

when we first had out dogs we used bakers, that was until i actually look what was in it. as others have said, its like feeding your kids on blue smarties lol

We have changed to royal canine,. it is expensive, but we have noticed a big change in our dogs behaviour and health. x

Re: Dry PUPPY food, which one?

Thank you for all your replies.

In all honesty and I don't want to sound like a bad dog owner but there is no way we can afford Royal Canin or any other of the TOP foods. (Does that make us sound terrible)?

Any other suggestions out there?

Thank you xx

Burns may sound more expensive but you actually feed less of it. My little westie puppy has to have 50-100g per day - doesn't sound a lot but it is a good food so requires less.

Yes that makes perfect sense thank you!!

We are going to make a detour to Pets at Home after the vets so we'll have a good look in there.
